Study Overview
-
Title: Effect of High Protein Wheat Meal on the Overall Health of Young Volunteered Participants.
-
Objective: To investigate the impact of GoShudh Wheat Flour on vital biochemical parameters and Body Mass Index (BMI) in healthy adults.
-
Participants: 80 volunteers aged 20-45 from ITM Institute of Hotel Management, Nerul, divided into four groups based on sex and flour type.
-
Duration: 28 days of controlled wheat flour consumption
-
Collaboration: Conducted with ITM-Group of Institutions on 10th September 2014.
Why This Matters
With growing interest in organic and nutritious foods, we partnered with ITM-Group of Institutions to assess how GoShudh Wheat Flour—a high-protein, organic option—compares to conventional wheat flour. Our goals were to:
-
Measure changes in BMI and key biochemical markers (e.g., cholesterol, hormones).
-
Highlight the health benefits of organic wheat for Indian consumers.
-
Address emerging concerns about food quality and safety.
Key Findings
1. Improved BMI
-
Male participants consuming GoShudh Wheat Flour saw their BMI increase from 20.35 to 21.12 over 28 days, compared to no significant change in the control group.
2. Enhanced Lipid Profile
-
Both male and female participants showed improved HDL (good cholesterol) levels and reduced LDL (bad cholesterol) after consuming GoShudh Wheat Flour.
-
Example: Female HDL rose from 46.38 to 48.02 mg/dl, while LDL dropped from 92.8 to 90.62 mg/dl.
3. Stable Hormonal Balance
-
Testosterone, estrogen (males), FSH, LH, and prolactin (females) levels remained stable or slightly improved, indicating no adverse effects and potential hormonal support.
4. Nutritional Superiority
-
GoShudh Wheat Flour’s higher protein and amino acid quality likely contributed to these health benefits, aligning with research on organic grains.
The Science Behind It
1. Study Design: Four groups (20 males treated, 20 males control, 20 females treated, 20 females control) consumed either GoShudh Wheat Flour or routine wheat flour.
2. Measurements: BMI, LDL, HDL, cholesterol, triglycerides, and sex-specific hormones were assessed before and after the 28-day period.
3. Results in Numbers:
-
Males (GoShudh): Cholesterol dropped from 128.2 to 120.7 mg/dl.
-
Females (GoShudh): Triglycerides decreased from 146.90 to 143.64 mg/dl.
-
Control groups showed minimal changes.
